WCLC Instructional Programs

Trained volunteer tutors work with adult students on Basic Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) skills. Tutors meet with their students at a public library or other approved site throughout the community.
Students choose personal, educational, work related, and community related goals. To assist in achieving these goals our core curriculum may be supplemented by computer work and materials from the library that teach life skills. Computers are equipped with a variety of educational software and the library contains skill related books as well as books to encourage reading for enjoyment.
In addition to Basic Literacy and ESL, tutors may specialize in math, driver education or may choose to tutor in one of the local correctional institutions.
Staff coordinators provide on-going support for tutors and their students.
